a great mini-camcorder! By Thomas I was looking for a video camera low cost with high quality audio and video, digital download capabilities (ie, miniDV), and good portability. I have tried many video cameras and read many more, and finally settled on the Panasonic PVDV103. The first distinctive feature is that it is in small batches - noticeably smaller than comparable models from Canon and JVC. It fits nicely in the palm of the hand of medium size, and most of the controls then just fall naturally under the fingers. As a result, it is a pleasure to use even for extended sessions filmimng hand. The sound is very clean, unlike the Canon ZR-series, and the video is wonderful and natural colors. Downloading an image via Firewire is easy and hassle free. I have only three minor quibbles with this camcorder: 1) it is capable of night vision Sony Style shoot in dim or dark conditions, 2) 10X optical zoom is, which is good but not great, and 3) stabilization image is not as solid as Canon or Sony. However, for the price (or even hundreds more), I do not think there is a better camcorder all-around.
